It’s no ordinary Friday at the Islamic Center at NYU. Muslims worldwide are preparing for Eid al Adha, the festival of sacrifice.
The feast commemorates when Abraham in his immense faith took his son to the top of Mount Arafat to kill his son, Ishmael, at god’s command. Before Abraham could drive the blade into his son, god sent him a substitute, a lamb.
Eid al Adha is one of two high holidays celebrated by muslims worldwide.
